Lindström's move to Schalke 04 reportedly collapses amid transfer disputes

Jesper Lindström's anticipated move to Bundesliga newcomer FC Schalke 04 appears to have fallen through for the time being. Reports indicate that Schalke is displeased with Napoli for allegedly reneging on agreed-upon terms.

Earlier media reports had suggested an agreement was in place between the clubs, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reporting the development. Lindström had reportedly already arrived in Germany for contract signing. However, he is now expected to return to Italy.

The 26-year-old Danish player, currently with SSC Napoli, was slated for an initial loan. Disagreements reportedly arose concerning whether the deal would include a purchase option or a mandatory purchase clause. Lindström previously played for Eintracht Frankfurt from 2021 to 2023, contributing to their 2022 Europa League victory. His subsequent move to Napoli saw him struggle to establish himself. Loan spells with FC Everton and, more recently, VfL Wolfsburg also proved unsuccessful.
