Lisbon's new electric tram considers four routes, three bypass Alameda dos Oceanos

Lisbon is exploring four distinct routes for its new 16E electric tram line, with a significant focus on minimizing disruption to the Alameda dos Oceanos area. Three of the proposed paths steer clear of this popular Lisbon neighborhood.

The Environmental Impact Study, currently open for public consultation until September 30, details five potential scenarios for the tram's development. These options aim to balance urban development with environmental considerations and public opinion.

One of the more impactful proposals includes the demolition of the viaduct on Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa. This suggests a substantial infrastructure change to accommodate the new line. Additionally, the study considers a route that would run along Av. João II, offering another possibility for the tram's integration into the city's transport network.
