Little League Baseball: Panama falters against Brazil in Intermediate Latin American Series

Panama suffered a narrow 9-10 defeat against Brazil in the Intermediate Little League Latin American Series 2026, held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The loss marked Panama's first setback in the tournament after an undefeated streak.

Panamá suffered this Thursday a defeat against Brazil, by 9 runs to 10, in the continuation of the Latin American Series of Intermediate Baseball 2026 that takes place in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The Panamanian team found themselves trailing by four runs but mounted a comeback, tying the game with two runs in the top of the sixth inning and another two in the seventh. However, Brazil managed to score a crucial run in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the victory.

Mathew Restrepo took the loss for Panama, allowing one hit and one run in two-thirds of an inning pitched. Joao Guedes earned the win for Brazil, giving up two hits and one run in one inning. Offensively, Manuel Maclao led Panama with a 5-4 performance and one run scored, while Mathew Flores went 3-3 with two runs, and Matías Marín was 3-3 with two runs.

The Panamanian team was down by four runs, but managed to tie the score with two runs in the top of the sixth inning and two more in the seventh.

Prior to this game, Panama had secured victories against Mexico (7-0), Colombia (16-1), Ecuador (8-1), and Argentina (8-4), clinching the top spot in Group A.
