Humphries appeared to gain the upper hand, winning four consecutive legs with averages exceeding 110. However, the match became tighter after the break, with errors creeping in. Littler fought back to level at 7-7, and the tension mounted, with a single mistake potentially deciding the outcome.

Humphries seemed poised to win at 10-9 after a ten-dart leg from Littler, even forcing a deciding leg from the back of the board. He started the final leg strongly, but a score of 43 on a 156 checkout proved costly. Littler, with six darts to spare, secured the victory on his final throw, hitting double 20.
