Livaković bids emotional farewell to Dinamo after Barcelona move

“Thank you for a wonderful half-year,” Dominik Livaković wrote as he closed his latest chapter with Dinamo Zagreb. “It was special to return home, put on the Dinamo shirt again and feel once more what makes Dinamo special.”

The 31-year-old Croatia goalkeeper thanked his teammates, coaches, club employees and supporters for their “support, love and every moment we shared.” He said helping return the domestic double to Zagreb was something he would carry in his heart forever.

Livaković also reflected on his longer Dinamo career, saying 310 appearances and 14 trophies were not merely numbers. “They represent years of pride, emotions, struggle and the honour of wearing the Dinamo shirt,” he wrote. He ended by wishing the club success for the rest of the season and signed off as “your number 40.”

Barcelona registered Livaković after signing him last week rather than sending him on a season-long loan. He joined the Catalan club on a four-year contract through summer 2030 and will wear number 25. He is expected to compete for the goalkeeper’s position with first-choice Joan García and reserve Wojciech Szczęsny.

Livaković previously spent time on loan at Dinamo before returning to Turkish club Fenerbahçe. A possible return to Dinamo for this season fell through after the clubs and player failed to agree. Barcelona’s coach Hansi Flick said Livaković was “aware of the situation” and had been brought in with the future in mind. The goalkeeper has 79 caps for Croatia.
