Live is Live cancels Fleddy Melculy's opening act for Iron Maiden: 'Band needs empty stage for setup'

The "Live is Live" music festival in Antwerp has canceled the opening performance by the Flemish metal band Fleddy Melculy. The band was scheduled to warm up the crowd before the main act, Iron Maiden, but unforeseen circumstances have delayed Iron Maiden's stage setup.

Organizers stated that Iron Maiden, as the headliner, is bringing a particularly large production that requires an empty stage for setup. Due to strict timing constraints, the full program cannot be shifted, forcing the cancellation of Fleddy Melculy's set. "We find it really 'shitty' that we have to disappoint our fans," said Jeroen Camerlynck, the singer of Fleddy Melculy.

Camerlynck added that the band was looking forward to playing their new single live and that many fans were expected to attend. Despite the disappointment, the band members do not blame the organizers, acknowledging their efforts to find a solution. They declined an offer to perform a short DJ set, preferring to deliver their usual "full-blown" performances.

Fleddy Melculy announced on social media that they intend to reschedule their Antwerp concert and will perform on February 20, 2027, at Kavka Zappa. The festival organizers expressed regret over the situation but emphasized the necessity of the empty stage for Iron Maiden's elaborate production.
