Liverpool Breaks the Bank to Sign Barcola from PSG

Bradley Barcola is heading to Liverpool with a clear ambition: to win the Premier League. The 23-year-old France international officially joined the Reds after several weeks of negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

“I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool,” Barcola said. “All I want is to be on the pitch and play. I hope to achieve very big things. Above all, to win the Premier League. It’s one of the biggest dreams of my life.”

Barcola, who will wear Liverpool’s number 29 shirt, also signed a long-term contract. He said he wanted to reach his goals and establish himself at the club over time.

The Lyon-born winger joined PSG from his youth club, Olympique Lyonnais, in 2023 for €50 million including bonuses. He scored 39 goals in 152 matches for the Paris club and added 37 assists. His playing time fell after Kvaratskhelia arrived in January 2025, and Barcola declined to extend a contract that ran until 2028.

PSG opened the door to a summer departure, while the club had already signed Belgian winger Mika Godts from Ajax. Liverpool will pay an estimated €145 million, including €20 million in bonuses. The fee sets a Ligue 1 record for a move abroad, surpassing Ayyoub Bouaddi’s reported €100 million transfer to Manchester City. It is not Liverpool’s club record, however, as the Reds paid the same amount for Alexander Isak and €125 million for Florian Wirtz in 2025.
