Liverpool sign Barcola in the final days of the transfer window

Liverpool made one of the biggest moves of the final days of Europe’s summer transfer window by signing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported 125 million euros.

PSG had bought the French winger three years earlier for 45 million euros. The 23-year-old arrives at Anfield after more than 150 appearances for the Paris club, with 39 goals and 37 assists. He also won two Champions League titles, three Ligue 1 titles, three French Super Cups and two French Cups with PSG.

Barcola said he was eager to start playing for Liverpool and recalled his previous visits to Anfield. “I’m happy to be available to play for Liverpool. All I want is to be on the field and play,” he said. He added that the stadium atmosphere and the support from Liverpool fans had surprised him.

I had the opportunity to play there a couple of times, I saw the atmosphere and how the fans support the players.

Premier League clubs continued to complete deals as the Sept. 1 deadline approached. Nottingham Forest announced the signing of Colombia international Daniel Muñoz from Crystal Palace for an estimated 25.7 million euros. Muñoz previously won the FA Cup under Oliver Glasner, who will now coach him at Forest.

Manchester City also announced the arrival of Allan, a 22-year-old winger developed at Palmeiras. Transfermarkt estimated the deal at 37.5 million euros. Aston Villa, meanwhile, sold England striker Ollie Watkins to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal for a reported 58.4 million euros. Al-Hilal announced Karim Benzema’s departure on the same day.
