Local Stars Earn Manu Samoa Call-Up for Nations Cup Campaign

Manu Samoa has unveiled its first squad of 2026 for the Nations Cup, set to take place during the July international window. The selection highlights emerging local talent, with Taunu’u Niulevaea and Warren Solomona earning national team call-ups after their impressive performances on the international sevens circuit. Both players have been key figures for Samoa Sevens and will now transition to the 15-man game.

Niulevaea and Solomona are currently showcasing their skills in Samoa's National Provincial Championship, representing A'ana and Falealili respectively. Their inclusion marks a significant step in their careers, offering them a platform to prove their abilities on a larger stage. The squad also features Peter Umaga-Jensen, nephew of legendary All Blacks Tana and Mike Umaga, who brings Super Rugby experience and a previous Test cap for New Zealand.

Head coach Lemalu Tusi Pisi has balanced new talent with seasoned campaigners. Experienced players like Hurricanes halfback Ereatara Enari, who has stepped up significantly this season, and Moana Pasifika captain Miracle Fai’ilagi are set to bolster the team. D’Angelo Leuila returns from injury, joining other established internationals in the backline. The team is preparing for a challenging Nations Cup campaign, with matches scheduled against Hong Kong, Georgia, and Romania in July.
