London Police Confiscate $3.7 Million Ferrari Hours After Driver Takes Wheel

Police in London seized a Ferrari valued at around $3.7 million as part of a weekend crackdown on dangerous driving. The Metropolitan Police confiscated a total of 90 vehicles, worth over $8 million, in Kensington, Chelsea, and Hyde Park between August 7-9. The operation targeted drivers operating without insurance, engaging in antisocial behavior, or driving dangerously. The Ferrari Monza SP2, one of only 499 units produced by the Italian manufacturer, had been in the UK for just one day when it was stopped. Authorities reported the driver had operated the vehicle for less than 30 minutes, possessed only a provisional license, and lacked insurance. The Monza SP2 model has previously sold for as much as $3.7 million at auction. Fifteen vehicles were impounded under powers allowing immediate seizure if a car is used dangerously, without prior warning. Chief Inspector Geoff Tatman noted that local residents frequently complain about drivers exhibiting dangerous behavior or modifying their vehicles in ways that disturb the community. In a separate incident during the operation, another man was arrested on suspicion of drug dealing after being stopped for driving without insurance. Two additional individuals were arrested for alleged harassment and immigration offenses. The Metropolitan Police stated that the number and value of vehicles confiscated were the highest in five years of conducting such operations.
