Love River Riverside Park's Western Bank Fully Reopens After Renovation; Eastern Section to Finish in November

The western bank of Kaohsiung's Love River Riverside Park has fully reopened after a significant renovation, offering improved recreational facilities and enhanced safety features. The NT$180 million project by the Water Resources Bureau aimed to transform the riverside area into a more comfortable and ecological space for the public.

This newly opened section, stretching from Yucheng Road to Tianxiang Road, includes a forest playground and a fitness area, complemented by walking paths lined with native trees like Bischofia polycarpa and Elaeocarpus chinensis. The area near North Bridge will feature Golden Trumpet trees, expected to create a vibrant golden corridor in spring, adding a romantic ambiance for visitors.

For the community's annual riverside concert, the tiered plaza has been revitalized with a new, smooth granite surface, replacing the old concrete. The stage and seating have also been improved for greater comfort, and public restrooms have been updated. The park's design prioritizes people, ecology, and safety, with optimized pathways, a resurfaced flood control road, updated fitness and play areas, and improved night lighting.

Previously, the glass pavement near North Bridge posed a slipping hazard. This has been replaced with a durable, non-slip surface to ensure visitor safety. Construction on the eastern bank, divided into two sections, is progressing rapidly and is scheduled for completion in November. The project is being managed with a phased opening approach as sections become ready.
