LPF Apertura 2026: Matchday 7 brings six high-stakes clashes

The seventh round of Panama’s Apertura 2026 is set for four straight days of football, with six interconference matches putting the qualification race under greater pressure. As the preliminary stage nears its halfway mark, every point begins to carry more weight.

Deportivo Árabe Unido opens the round against Veraguas United on Friday, Sept. 4, at Colón’s Armando Dely Valdés Stadium. The home side, known as El Expreso Azul, will rely on its home advantage against a Veraguas team looking to add points to its overall table position.

Saturday brings two matches. CD Universitario hosts Sporting San Miguelito at the Universidad Latina Stadium in Penonomé, while Plaza Amador faces Herrera FC at COS Sports Plaza in Panama City. Universitario will try to impose itself at home against a Sporting side associated with a fast attacking style. Plaza Amador, described as the favorite, will look to use its attack against Herrera’s bid to produce an upset in the capital.

Sunday’s schedule features Unión Coclé against Tauro FC in Penonomé and Alianza FC against San Francisco FC at the Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez Stadium in Juan Díaz. Tauro faces a demanding away match in which possession and finishing could prove decisive. The traditional Alianza-San Francisco fixture will be broadcast on TVMAX, TVN Pass and the TVMAX Panamá YouTube channel. Alianza will seek to stop the La Chorrera side, known as the Monjes.

The round ends Monday, Sept. 7, when UMECIT FC meets Club Atlético Independiente at COS Sports Plaza. The match is presented as a high-impact encounter in which tactical organization and finishing could shape the result. Difficult home venues, including Armando Dely Valdés and Universidad Latina, will also test the visiting teams.
