Authorities have warned parents and schools to be vigilant after customs officers intercepted a shipment of LSD blotter paper printed with colourful cartoon designs that was allegedly destined for Thailand.

Customs Department officials displayed the LSD paper, highlighting the colorful cartoon artwork used by traffickers to package synthetic drugs. The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) and the Customs Department expressed concern that these designs could make the drugs appear harmless or attractive to children and teenagers.

LSD, a Category 1 narcotic, is typically distributed on small squares of blotter paper. Users place the paper on their tongue for absorption. The recent seizure on July 21 involved 529 blotter stamps from Germany, valued at over 200,000 baht on the street, in an alleged smuggling attempt into Thailand.

Traffickers were increasingly using eye-catching artwork on blotter paper to package synthetic drugs, raising concerns they could appear harmless or attractive to children and teenagers.

Authorities described LSD as a potent hallucinogen that can distort perception, impair judgment, and induce anxiety or paranoia. They cautioned that individuals under its influence face increased risks of accidents. Parents are advised to educate their children about illicit drugs, discourage them from accepting unknown items from strangers, and report any suspicious substances. Open conversations about the dangers of drug use are also encouraged.
