Lucas Assadi opens up after returning to play for U: 'I went through a tough time'

Universidad de Chile began the second half of the National Championship with a 2-1 away victory against Audax Italiano. The match marked the return of midfielder Lucas Assadi, who had been excluded from recent squad selections by coach Fernando Gago. Assadi entered the game in the second half and, after the final whistle, spoke about the challenging personal times he had endured.

"The win was very important, we really needed it. We are far from the top, and the goal is to keep growing as a team and in the standings. More than changing things, it was about maintaining what we do in training," the midfielder told TNT Sports.

The young talent acknowledged the difficulty of being sidelined from the first team. "Personally, I am very happy to play again. I went through a tough time recently, both personally and by not being selected, but I am very happy to be back," he stated.

Assadi also extended his gratitude to the Universidad de Chile supporters for their consistent backing during his absence. "The fans have always supported me at all times, in good and bad. Happy to have won," he concluded.
