Luka Modrić nearing decision on future, AC Milan and Real Madrid roles on offer

Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić is reportedly nearing a decision on his future, with Italian club AC Milan emerging as a strong contender to retain his services. Italian media suggest that Modrić is increasingly inclined to accept Milan's offer and remain at the San Siro for at least another season.

Should Modrić opt to end his illustrious playing career, Real Madrid has extended an open invitation for him to assume a directorial position. Club president Florentino Pérez reportedly desires Modrić to take on a significant off-field role, leveraging his extensive experience and legendary status at the club. In this scenario, Modrić could serve as a crucial link between the players and the club's management, especially with José Mourinho returning as coach.

However, if Modrić decides to continue his playing career, AC Milan is eager to keep him. Despite the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, with whom Modrić had a strong relationship, new coach Ruben Amorim views the Croatian as a vital component of his squad. Amorim has publicly expressed his strong desire to keep Modrić, stating he would "walk there" for him and that he has spoken with the player multiple times.

"He is a player we want to keep. I have spoken with him twice. If necessary, I will speak with him again, it is not difficult for me. He is incredible, an absolute role model for all of us. I will not say that he will play every game, but we want to count on Modrić next season," Amorim said.
