Madonna and Blur producer William Orbit dies aged 69

William Orbit, the Grammy Award-winning British musician and producer, has died at the age of 69. His family and friends announced his passing on Friday, stating he died at home on July 23. Orbit achieved significant acclaim for his production work on Madonna's 1998 album 'Ray of Light,' earning him two of his three Grammy Awards. He also collaborated with the pop icon on her 2000 album 'Music' and co-wrote the 1999 single 'Beautiful Stranger,' which won a Grammy for best song written for visual media. His extensive production credits include work with a diverse range of artists such as Blur, Britney Spears, U2, Pink, and All Saints. Mel C of the Spice Girls paid tribute, calling it "such an honour to have worked with this great man," while Nicole Appleton of All Saints described him as "a treasure in the music industry." Beyond his production work, Orbit had a solo career, releasing 12 studio albums primarily of electronic music. He was also a member of the groups Bassomatic and Torch Song. His contributions significantly influenced electronic music and pop production.
