Madrid lights up with Venezuela's colors in solidarity after earthquakes

Madrid's regional government illuminated the facade of its headquarters, the Royal House of Post, with the colors of the Venezuelan flag as a gesture of solidarity following devastating earthquakes. The display, which took place on Friday and Saturday nights, aimed to show support for Venezuela during its time of crisis.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Community of Madrid, announced that the region had also dispatched its Immediate Emergency and Response Team (ERICAM) to Venezuela on the same day the earthquakes struck. The team consists of 40 professionals, including firefighters specialized in collapsed structure rescue, canine units for victim location, medical personnel from SUMMA112, and structural analysis experts from the Madrid City Council.

The earthquakes have had a catastrophic impact on Venezuela, with official reports indicating 920 deaths and 3,360 people still missing. Among the Spanish citizens in Venezuela, five have been confirmed dead, and 119 remain unaccounted for. The illumination of the Royal House of Post, a prominent landmark in Madrid's Puerta del Sol, served as a symbol of mourning, respect, and deep admiration for the Venezuelan people during this painful period.
