Madrid sign Ibrahima Konate on four-year deal

Real Madrid has secured the signing of defender Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool, with the French international agreeing to a four-year contract. The Spanish giants confirmed the arrival of the 27-year-old center-back, whose deal at Anfield concluded, stating he will remain a Real Madrid player until June 30, 2030.

Konate moved to Liverpool in 2021 from RB Leipzig. During his time with the English club, he made 183 appearances and was part of the squad that won the Premier League in 2025 and the FA Cup in 2022, among other trophies.

The defender is currently representing France at the World Cup. His transfer to Real Madrid follows a summer of significant activity for the club, which also saw the appointment of Jose Mourinho as coach and the signings of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella and Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Real Madrid has been linked with other potential signings, including Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries, as they aim to revamp their squad. This comes after two consecutive seasons without winning a major trophy. The club has also extended the contract of center-back Antonio Rudiger until 2027, while Dani Carvajal and David Alaba have departed at the end of their contracts.
