Magellan Strait: Núñez open to convening Chile's National Security Council, but demands clarity and order from Kast

Senate President Paulina Núñez said she would attend a possible meeting of Chile's National Security Council to discuss sovereignty and control of the Strait of Magellan.

The proposal came from Socialist Senator Juan Luis Castro. Núñez, a member of Renovación Nacional, said, "If the President convenes the National Security Council, I will be the first to arrive." She said lawmakers were putting forward different ideas because there had ultimately been a lack of clarity and order on the issue.

Although she supports discussing the matter, Núñez called on the government to lead the country's position. She said Congress, and especially the Senate under her leadership, must help guide unity, while also expecting the government to do so.
