Manabí, Ecuador, experienced a magnitude 3.7 earthquake on the evening of July 31, 2026. The tremor's epicenter was located 25.76 kilometers from Montecristi, adding to the seismic activity in the region. This event followed closely on the heels of a magnitude 3.6 earthquake detected off the coast of Manta just the previous night.

The Geophysical Institute reported the quake occurred at 8:25:56 local time, with a depth of 25.0 kilometers. Its coordinates were 1.138 degrees south latitude and 80.871 degrees west longitude. The recurring seismic activity has kept residents on alert.

So far, risk management authorities have not reported any personal injuries or damage to infrastructure in Montecristi or surrounding areas. Ecuador's seismic monitoring network remains operational.
