Magong Summer Open-Air Film Festival to Feature Four Screenings with Free Popcorn

Magong City in Penghu is bringing the magic of cinema outdoors with its "Magong Summer Open-Air Film Festival." The event, scheduled for four nights over two weekends – August 21-22 and August 28-29 – aims to offer a blend of entertainment and community engagement for residents, families, and tourists.

Each screening will begin at 7:30 PM at the Penghu International Plaza. The film lineup includes "The Cat's Scam Group" on August 21, "The Bad Guys 2" on August 22, "Reindeer Adventure: Beyond the Northern Lights" on August 28, and the animated favorite "Toy Story 4" on August 29.

Attendees can enjoy complimentary popcorn and drinks while supplies last. The festival also features interactive elements, including a trivia contest with 10 picnic mats as prizes per session. Additionally, 400 limited-edition "Blatant Cat - Arrogant Memorial Fans" will be distributed before each movie, with a total of 1,600 fans available across the four nights.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, 16 large inflatable figures will be set up around the plaza, extending the movie experience beyond the screen. Visitors are encouraged to take photos with these characters and share them on social media for a chance to win prizes. Those who complete photo check-ins with all 16 figures can claim a limited-edition picnic mat or an L-shaped file folder set after the final screening on August 29. Magong Mayor Huang Chien-chung emphasized the goal of creating lasting family memories and transforming the plaza into a vibrant community hub.
