Maine Democrats Unify Behind Troy Jackson for Crucial Senate Race

Maine Democrats are consolidating their efforts around Troy Jackson, positioning him as the party's candidate to challenge Republican Senator Susan Collins in the upcoming November elections. Jackson, a former state legislator and a fifth-generation logger, has gained significant momentum after several of his rivals withdrew their candidacies over the weekend.

Key figures like Maine's Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and Nirav Shah, former director of Maine's CDC, have publicly endorsed Jackson, urging party unity. Dan Kleban, co-founder of Maine Beer Company, and progressive activist Jordan Wood also followed suit, throwing their support behind the logger from northern Maine. This broad backing comes as Democrats scramble to regroup after their initial nominee, Graham Platner, suspended his campaign due to scandals.

Jackson has garnered substantial support at county-level meetings, with over two-thirds of delegates reportedly committed to voting for him at the upcoming nominating convention. A former state legislator who served until 2024 due to term limits, Jackson previously ran for governor.
