Major Fire Closes Section of Danish Highway

A major fire at an industrial facility in Brande, Denmark, has prompted authorities to close a significant portion of the Holstebro motorway. Police have shut down the highway between exit 11, Brande Nord, and exit 12, Ejstrupholmvej, as emergency services respond to the blaze.

Midt- og Vestjyllands Police issued a statement via their Politi Update service, announcing the road closure and requesting the public to respect the barriers to ensure emergency crews can operate without obstruction. Signage vehicles are being deployed to the scene.

According to duty officer Thomas Hald, the fire, which initially seemed to be contained, has since intensified dramatically. This escalation has led to an expansion of the danger zone, now encompassing the motorway. There is currently no estimated time for when the motorway will reopen or when the fire is expected to be brought under control.

Fortunately, no individuals have sustained injuries as a result of the fire. Smoke from the incident is drifting towards Brande Nord and across the motorway, though it is currently at a height above the traffic. Residents in the vicinity who can smell smoke are advised by the police to close their doors and windows as a precautionary measure.
