Makassar City Wins Top Award for Creative Financing in Sulawesi

Makassar City has earned the top award for Regional Creative Financing in Sulawesi for 2026, a significant achievement recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This accolade comes with a Rp3 billion incentive, acknowledging the city's innovative and sustainable approach to managing development financing.

The award was presented to Mayor Munafri Arifuddin at a ceremony in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. Munafri expressed gratitude, attributing the success to the collective efforts of the city government in implementing effective, innovative, and impactful governance. "This is certainly very pleasing. This award is the result of our hard work together, which has resulted in recognition of the region's performance in the Creative Financing category," Munafri stated.

Beyond creative financing, Makassar also achieved recognition by ranking among the top three for Poverty and Stunting Reduction. Additionally, the city was honored for its highest participation growth in social security and for pioneering a protection program for vulnerable workers based on old-age savings. These achievements collectively reinforce Makassar's position as a leading local government in Eastern Indonesia.

The city's success highlights effective collaboration between the government, businesses, and the community. This partnership fosters inclusive development, expands social protection, and strengthens the region's fiscal capacity for strategic programs. Munafri emphasized that these accomplishments demonstrate the city government's ability to generate new revenue streams and maximize existing potential through robust and measurable regulations.
