Malami inaugurates 600-member Kebbi ADC campaign council, urges unity

Abubakar Malami, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has launched a 600-member campaign council for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State, Nigeria. Malami, who is the party's governorship candidate, stressed the importance of unity, reconciliation, and issue-based politics as the 2027 general elections approach.

During the inauguration on Wednesday, Malami charged the council members to work collaboratively to establish a robust grassroots campaign. The goal is to mobilize support effectively across all 21 local government areas of the state. He highlighted that the council's formation signifies the start of a coordinated effort to disseminate the ADC's message to communities, wards, and polling units.

Malami noted that the council was intentionally structured to represent Kebbi State's diversity, drawing members from various communities, local government areas, and senatorial districts. He specifically acknowledged the party's senatorial candidates and urged council members to shun tribalism, sectionalism, and personal rivalries, warning that internal divisions could jeopardize the party's objectives. Under the theme "One ADC, One Campaign," Malami implored all candidates and supporters to prioritize the party's collective interest over personal ambitions. He cautioned against inflammatory rhetoric, hate speech, ethnic insults, and attacks on political opponents, emphasizing that political competition should not damage community relationships. "After the elections, we will still worship together, attend the same markets, celebrate together, mourn together and raise our children together. No political ambition is worth destroying those bonds," he said.
