Malaysia PM Anwar Launches AI Avatar to Connect with Citizens

Malaysians can now engage with PMX.AI, an artificial intelligence avatar representing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, designed to interact with voters and gauge public sentiment. Launched via a superhero-themed video on social media, the AI double aims to foster new ideas and public discourse for the nation. The video portrays Anwar as various characters, including an astronaut and a superhero, symbolizing what is described as the "evolution of national communications."

The AI avatar pledges to embody Anwar's values and vision, stating, "AI opens a new dimension." It aims to hear people's voices and understand their aspirations, acknowledging that "no leader can be everywhere at once." Developed by Malaysian digital infrastructure firm Zetrix AI, PMX.AI is named after Anwar's position as Malaysia's 10th prime minister. The avatar is trained using Anwar's speeches, writings, and his government's policies, functioning as a "digital extension" ready to "listen, assist and serve the people."

This initiative follows a Bloomberg report from July 10 indicating Anwar's plan to debut an AI double to assist Malaysians with government services. The video also references the "Madani multiverse," linking the AI to Anwar's "Madani government" and featuring scenes reminiscent of the Avengers superhero franchise, with multiple avatars captioned "assemble!" The avatar's capabilities extend to operating semi- or fully autonomously to achieve specific goals, moving beyond simple prompt responses.
