Malaysian co-pilot caught with 26kg of ecstasy at Indonesian airport

Indonesian customs officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport intercepted a Malaysian airline co-pilot carrying a significant quantity of illicit drugs. The man, identified by the initials MS, was found with 70,114 ecstasy pills, totaling 26 kilograms, and an additional 4 grams of methamphetamine concealed within his luggage.

Officials became suspicious after scanning the luggage via X-ray. The co-pilot, wearing his uniform, was directed to a secondary inspection where the drugs were discovered. During initial questioning, MS stated he was promised 50,000 Malaysian Ringgit to transport the narcotics to Jakarta.

Authorities revealed that MS had a history of drug smuggling, having previously transported narcotics twice, once to Sabah and once before this failed attempt in Jakarta. He claimed the drugs were to be handed over to an individual in Jakarta, whose identity is still under investigation and is believed to be a Malaysian national.

The Directorate General of Customs and Excise is cooperating with the National Police's Narcotics Crime Investigation Directorate to further develop the case and dismantle the suspected drug trafficking network. The successful interception highlights the vigilance of customs officers in preventing the flow of illegal substances into the country.
