Man (77) dies after tractor crash in Co Tyrone

A 77-year-old man has died after his tractor overturned in a crash in County Tyrone on Friday evening. The incident took place in the Tullycunny Road area, near Fintona and Omagh.

The victim has been identified as Dessie Sheridan of Tattyreagh. Police were alerted to the collision involving a red Massey Ferguson 185 tractor around 6 p.m.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), along with emergency services from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, Mr. Sheridan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have stated that the road where the crash occurred would remain closed for a significant portion of Saturday as investigations continue. Detective Inspector Dave Stewart of the PSNI's collision investigation unit urged anyone who witnessed the crash or possesses relevant footage, such as dashcam recordings, to come forward and contact the police.

This tragic incident brings the total number of road fatalities in Northern Ireland to 32 this year. This figure represents an increase compared to the same period last year, when 21 people had died on the roads by this time.
