Man allegedly kills wife in front of 7-year-old daughter in Turkey

A man, identified as neighborhood watchman H.E.K., 40, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Hatice Mine Kocamaz, 40, in front of their young daughter in Adana, Turkey. The incident occurred early Friday morning in the Kışla neighborhood of Yüreğir district. Kocamaz, an employee of the Pozantı Municipality, had filed for divorce due to severe domestic discord. Her husband allegedly went to her home and shot her in the head after covering her face with a pillow, according to reports. Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing the gunshots. Emergency services responded, but Kocamaz was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by police within approximately 30 minutes, thanks to security camera footage and tracking efforts. Kocamaz's brother, Yılmaz Yılgıncan, spoke to reporters, stating that his sister had been going through a two-year divorce process. He described the suspect as having significant debts and being a gambler, which led to marital problems. "He killed my sister in front of my 7-year-old niece," Yılgıncan said, expressing his grief and anger. Kocamaz was later buried at the Buruk Cemetery.
