Man allegedly murders wife in front of child in Elazığ, Turkey

A man, identified as Murat Ç., allegedly shot and killed his wife, Derya Ç., in their home in Elazığ, Turkey, in what is being described as a "male violence" incident. The tragic event unfolded on the 5th floor of an apartment building in the Doğukent neighborhood.

According to reports, Murat Ç., who is reportedly military personnel, had returned to his hometown of Elazığ on leave from an overseas assignment. An argument erupted between him and his wife, Derya Ç., for reasons yet to be determined. The dispute escalated dramatically, leading Murat Ç. to allegedly fire multiple shots from a handgun at his wife.

Tragically, the couple's 4-year-old child was present in the house at the time of the shooting. Derya Ç. died at the scene from her injuries. Neighbors, alerted by the gunshots, immediately contacted emergency services, and both health and police teams were dispatched to the location.

Murat Ç. was taken into custody by police officers within the building. Following an examination of the crime scene by the public prosecutor, Derya Ç.'s body was transported to the morgue at Fırat University Hospital for an autopsy.
