Man Allegedly Smashes Ex-Girlfriend's Car with Cleaver and Knife

In Mersin, Turkey, a man identified as M.Ç. (37) allegedly caused significant damage to his ex-girlfriend S.Ç.'s car using a cleaver and a knife. The incident occurred outside S.Ç.'s home in the Çeltikçi neighborhood.

Security camera footage shows the suspect approaching the vehicle, retrieving a cleaver from his person, and proceeding to smash the car's windows. He then repeatedly struck the car's bodywork and punctured the tires with a knife. The vandalism lasted for approximately three minutes before the man fled the scene.

Following the incident, S.Ç. utilized the 'KADES' application, a domestic violence support system, to request assistance. Gendarmerie teams responded quickly and identified the suspect from the security footage. An arrest warrant was issued by the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and M.Ç. was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody. He also surrendered the cleaver used in the attack. The suspect is expected to be transferred to court after providing his statement to the gendarmerie.
