Man arrested after allegedly stabbing young man to death at Vinto serenade

Police arrested a 26-year-old man accused of stabbing a young man to death during a fight at a serenade in Vinto, Cochabamba. Officers found the suspect hiding in San Jorge after the celebration and took him to police facilities.

According to the police report, the suspect was carrying a knife during the event. After a confrontation with another group, he allegedly used the weapon and inflicted a wound to the victim’s chest.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Jhamil Chávez, a nursing student. People helped him after the attack and took him to two medical centers, but he died because of the severity of the injury.

The accused was identified as Richard Ángel C.P. He remains in police custody while awaiting a hearing on precautionary measures. Chávez’s family is demanding justice and asking that the accused be sent to prison.
