Man arrested at Trump golf course carrying ammunition, loaded pistol

Authorities arrested a man at President Donald Trump's Los Angeles golf course on Sunday, local time, after he was observed monitoring security preparations just two days before a scheduled fundraiser. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department identified the suspect as Jeanine John Taele, 38.

During the arrest, deputies found a loaded pistol in Taele's car and discovered he had a 16-round magazine with ammunition in his pocket. A subsequent search of his home in Downey revealed a significant cache of firearms, multiple magazines, body armor, and notebooks containing "concerning statements." The sheriff's department did not specify the nature of these statements or if they indicated a planned attack.

Taele was charged with several felonies, including second-degree robbery, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to all charges on Monday, local time, and was released on $250,000 bail, with orders to stay away from the golf course and refrain from possessing weapons.

The sheriff's department stated there is "no credible threat to our communities." The arrest occurred as President Trump was preparing to attend a fundraising dinner for the Republican National Committee at the Trump National Golf Course. This incident follows a 2025 conviction where a man was found guilty of attempting to assassinate Trump at his Florida country club.
