Man arrested for allegedly killing influencer during livestream in Mexico

Mexican authorities have arrested a suspect in the killing of social media influencer Cesar Gastelum, who was shot and killed during a livestream on August 4 in Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa state.

Gastelum, who boasted over 500,000 TikTok followers, was participating in a social media challenge dressed as a food delivery worker with two friends when a motorcycle approached. The driver of the motorcycle allegedly fired directly at Gastelum, as captured in the livestream recording.

Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch announced the arrest of the alleged killer in Puebla, a state in central Mexico. The operation involved a confrontation where police killed one of three armed individuals who attacked them. The suspect and another person were arrested, and firearms, ammunition, and vehicles were seized.
