Man arrested for attempted murder after assaulting neighbors with blunt object

A man in his 60s is in police custody facing attempted murder charges after allegedly attacking a mother and her father with a blunt weapon. The incident occurred Tuesday evening in the Hwado-eup area of Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. The suspect, who had been drinking, reportedly got into an argument with a woman in her 50s at the entrance of their shared villa.

Following the initial dispute, the man allegedly retrieved a blunt object from his home and attacked the woman. He then proceeded to assault her 80-year-old father, who intervened to protect his daughter. Both victims suffered severe head injuries and were transported to a hospital. Their conditions are currently stable and not life-threatening.

Police apprehended the suspect at the scene as a fugitive. An investigation into the exact circumstances of the assault is underway, and authorities are considering requesting an arrest warrant. The motive appears to stem from a drunken altercation that escalated rapidly.
