Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Threatening Acquaintance with Knife Over Money Dispute

A dispute over money led to a violent confrontation in Incheon, South Korea, resulting in the arrest of a 50-year-old man. The suspect, identified only as A, was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and public weapon possession.

According to police reports, A visited an acquaintance, B, at his home on July 20th. The two had been drinking together when a financial disagreement escalated into a heated argument. Following the dispute, A returned to his own home, retrieved a knife, and proceeded to B's residence with the apparent intent to commit murder.

Adding to the alarming situation, A called the emergency services (112) before reaching B's house. Although he initially hung up without speaking, police became suspicious and called him back. During the subsequent conversation, A made explicit threats to kill B. Responding to the tip-off, officers were dispatched to the scene and apprehended A as a 현행범 (hyeonhaengbeom), or a criminal caught in the act, outside the victim's home.

Further investigation by the Incheon Seobu Police revealed the premeditated nature of the attack, leading to the additional charge of attempted murder. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the precise circumstances of the incident and plan to transfer the case to the prosecution.
