Man arrested for drug driving after crashing and overturning car in Chiayi

A man identified as Tu was arrested in Chiayi City after a car crash and testing positive for cathinone in a saliva test. Police found a packet of drug-infused coffee in his car and he admitted to using drugs before driving. The incident occurred on Shixian Road and Shanghai Road, where Tu's vehicle collided with two other cars before overturning on a median strip. The crash, which happened around 9:18 p.m. on June 6, startled bystanders with its loud noise. Police observed Tu's disoriented state and suspicious behavior, leading to a search of his vehicle where the drug packet was discovered. A subsequent saliva test confirmed the presence of cathinone, a Schedule III controlled substance. Tu was arrested for endangering public safety, and his license plates and vehicle were impounded pending further investigation, including a urine test.
