Man Arrested in Osh for Pouring Boiling Syrup on Wife

Authorities in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, have arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a severe domestic violence incident. The suspect, identified as Z.O., born in 1983, is accused of pouring boiling syrup on his wife during a conflict on March 9.

The victim suffered significant burns and required hospitalization. According to the regional police department's press service, the woman reported being treated for 27 days following the attack. The incident occurred during a family argument, leading to the alleged assault.

Following the alleged assault, the suspect reportedly went into hiding, evading investigative actions. A court in the "Sulaiman-Too" police department of Osh's Internal Affairs Directorate subsequently issued an arrest warrant in absentia, ordering his detention.

The man has been charged under the article "Domestic Violence" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The arrest brings a measure of resolution to a case that had caused distress within the community.
