Man arrested in Serbia for threatening wife, setting family home on fire

Police in Prokuplje, Serbia, have arrested a 72-year-old man, identified as T.M., following an incident where he allegedly threatened his wife before setting their family home ablaze. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the arrest, stating that T.M. doused the interior of the house with flammable liquid and ignited it.

Authorities suspect that prior to the fire, T.M. had threatened his wife, vowing to set both her and the house on fire. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze. However, the fire caused extensive damage, completely destroying the interior of an upstairs room and a portion of the roof structure. Parts of the furniture in two downstairs rooms and the bathroom were also burned.

The suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours. He will be brought before the competent prosecutor's office along with a criminal complaint for "causing general danger" and "domestic violence."
