Man destroys store products, hospitalized after police intervention in Bucharest

Authorities are investigating a man who allegedly caused a significant disturbance in a Bucharest store on the evening of June 21. The man is accused of destroying multiple products on display before leaving the commercial unit.

Following the incident in the store, the man reportedly had an altercation with his partner on a nearby street. A woman called emergency services to report the man's violent behavior and destruction of goods. Police officers from Section 16 responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the man exhibiting agitated and uncooperative behavior. He refused to provide explanations or cooperate with the police to clarify the situation. To prevent further incidents and ensure public safety, officers immobilized the man and transported him to the Alexandru Obregia Psychiatric Clinic.

The attending physician at the clinic decided to admit him for further evaluation. Police identified the woman involved in the street altercation as the man's partner. She stated she did not wish to press charges, did not request a protection order, and refused to complete a risk assessment form. She also declined medical attention.

Police noted that the man's actions caused panic and disrupted public order and tranquility in the area. A criminal case has been initiated against him for disturbing public order and domestic violence. Investigations are ongoing under the coordination of prosecutors from the Sector 4 Court Prosecutor's Office to establish all the circumstances of the incident and determine legal measures.
