Man Dies After Electric Shock During Fruit Harvest in Panama

A tragic accident in Bugaba, Chiriquí, has resulted in the death of a man approximately 30 years old. The incident occurred while the victim was engaged in harvesting Chinese mamón, a type of fruit.

Preliminary reports indicate the man was positioned on a tree when a branch he was handling or a part of the tree itself made contact with a nearby high-voltage power line. This contact led to a severe electric shock.

Following the shock, the man fell from the tree, sustaining a significant blow to the head against a rock at the base of the trunk, in addition to other injuries. Emergency services and relatives transported him to the Hospital José Félix Espinoza, where medical personnel confirmed he had no vital signs upon arrival.

Officials from the Public Ministry and the Municipal Mayor's Office of Bugaba have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. The body was recovered from the scene to determine the exact cause of death and any contributing factors.
