Man Drowns in Chiemsee Lake After Going Swimming from Boat

A tragic accident on Chiemsee lake in Bavaria has resulted in the death of a 68-year-old Swiss man. The man was on an electric boat with a companion when he decided to go for a swim. For reasons yet to be determined, he entered the water and was subsequently lost from his companion's view.

Following his disappearance, other bathers alerted rescue services. Rescuers from the DLRG (German Life Saving Association) and the Wasserwacht (Water Rescue) found the man lifeless in the water later that evening. A doctor pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Kriminalpolizei (Criminal Police) in Traunstein is now investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. At present, the police are treating the case as a tragic accident and have indicated that there are no indications of third-party involvement.
