Man from Lubbeek gets 4-year suspended sentence for exhibitionism on buses

A man from Lubbeek has been sentenced to four years in prison, suspended, for a series of exhibitionism, voyeurism, and sexual integrity offenses, many of which occurred on De Lijn public buses. The court heard that the man masturbated in the presence of women and girls on buses. The first complaint dates back to June 2024, when a woman reported the man exposing himself behind her on a bus and later at a store. Further incidents occurred in May 2025, including him exposing himself on a bus while en route to a police interview and again at a bus stop in front of an 11-year-old girl. Investigators examining the man's laptops discovered footage of him filming under women's skirts and drawings depicting the sexual abuse of minors. The man confessed to the charges in court, stating that not denying the facts was the most respectful approach to the victims. He mentioned receiving new medication since May 2025, which he claims has eliminated his urges and arousal. Despite ongoing probation and assistance, the court noted that the man's offenses escalated. A psychologist identified hypersexuality and a high risk of relapse, recommending intensive residential treatment. The judge emphasized the significant impact on victims, causing fear, powerlessness, and a violation of their sense of security. The man must adhere to several conditions, including psychiatric and psychological guidance, refraining from new offenses, and avoiding any roles involving minors.
