Man gets 6 years for fatal bar assault; victim donated organs

A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison for a fatal assault that occurred after a dispute in a bar. The court handed down a sentence exceeding the prosecution's recommendation of five years.

The incident took place on January 18 when the defendant, after a minor altercation over a physical bump in a bar, lured the 30-year-old victim outside. The defendant then repeatedly struck the victim in the face with his fists and kicked him as he lay on the ground. According to the investigation, the defendant lured the victim to an area without CCTV, stating he wanted to engage in a "Yacha rule" fight, which refers to unarmed combat. Prosecutors also indicated the defendant attempted to record the victim's agreement to fight.

In a poignant aftermath, the victim, who was an office worker, donated his organs, including his heart, to seven recipients. His departure after making such a significant donation offers a measure of solace amidst the tragedy.
