Man high on tranquilizers and amphetamines crashes into nine vehicles in Taiwan

A man driving under the influence of drugs crashed into nine parked vehicles in Taiwan's Tanzi District on Tuesday night. The 43-year-old driver, identified only as Mr. Zhuang, was reportedly driving erratically before the collision.

Authorities responded to the scene and found Zhuang's vehicle had collided with one car and eight motorcycles parked along the roadside. While there were no injuries reported, both Zhuang's car and another vehicle sustained damage to their front ends and left sides. The parked motorcycles also suffered damage.

Drugs severely affect judgment and reaction ability. Driving after using drugs not only endangers your own safety but can also cause casualties to innocent road users.

Upon questioning, Zhuang denied consuming alcohol but tested positive for etomidate and amphetamines in a rapid saliva test. Police also discovered etomidate and related smoking paraphernalia inside his vehicle. He has been handed over to authorities on charges of endangering public safety and violating drug control laws.

Police Chief Shi Yong-chao of the Daya Precinct issued a stern warning about the dangers of drug-impaired driving, emphasizing its severe impact on judgment and reaction times. He stressed that such behavior not only endangers the driver but also innocent bystanders. The police department pledged to intensify checks and enforcement to ensure public safety on the roads.
