Man Indicted for Murder and Robbery After Drug Use in Seoul

A 52-year-old man has been arrested and indicted on charges of murder and violating drug laws in connection with the death of a female acquaintance in Seoul's Gangbuk District. The incident occurred on the morning of May 28, when the suspect allegedly used methamphetamine before fatally stabbing the victim and stealing cash from her.

The prosecution, led by the North Seoul District Prosecutors' Office, stated that the suspect, identified as Mr. Na, had been experiencing financial difficulties. Investigators believe he targeted his acquaintance, known to possess a significant amount of cash, and premeditated the robbery. Evidence suggests Na searched for and acquired tools such as handcuffs and restraints prior to the attack. He is accused of entering the victim's apartment with multiple knives and carrying out the murder.

Following the initial arrest, prosecutors have been conducting further investigations. This includes analyzing ten seized mobile phones belonging to Na and searching the residence of an acquaintance he lived with. Additional CCTV footage from the crime scene has also been secured to corroborate the details of the incident. The prosecution aims to build a comprehensive case based on this supplementary evidence before proceeding with the trial.
