Man killed defending neighbor from robbers in Argentina's La Matanza

A resident of La Matanza, Argentina, became the latest victim of the country's pervasive insecurity after confronting armed robbers. The 43-year-old man emerged from his home in the San Alberto neighborhood after hearing shouts and witnessing an attempted carjacking. Three assailants on a motorcycle had targeted a driver arriving at the location, demanding his white Volkswagen Gol.

Despite the danger, the neighbor armed himself with a hammer and emerged onto the street, attempting to scare off the criminals. The robbers responded with a hail of gunfire, both to intimidate bystanders and during their escape. One bullet struck the neighbor in the leg as he retreated and secured his gate. The assailants fled with the car, later abandoning it about 600 meters away.

The injured man was rushed to the Paroissien Hospital, where he died from his wounds. The incident, captured on security cameras, highlights the ongoing struggle with violent crime in the Buenos Aires suburbs.
