Man Seriously Injured in Surrey Shooting; Suspect Arrested

A man is in serious but non-life-threatening condition after being shot outside a home in Surrey, British Columbia, early Friday morning. Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. The Surrey Police Service responded to a report of a shooting shortly after midnight on June 28, 2026. Officers arrived at a residence in the 14500 block of 75 Avenue and found a male victim inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Responding officers administered first aid before paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. According to police, officers from a unit patrolling areas known for extortion-related shootings were in the vicinity at the time and were able to locate and arrest the suspect. Investigators are treating the shooting as targeted, but they currently do not believe it is connected to the series of extortion threats that have plagued the city. The suspect is in custody, and major crimes investigators are continuing their investigation into the shooting.
