Manchester City, Atletico Madrid to play in South Korea's Coupang Play Series in August

Football giants Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are set to compete in South Korea this August as part of the Coupang Play Series. The highly anticipated event will feature two matches at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

The series kicks off on August 5 with a match between a 'Team K League' all-star squad and Manchester City. This will be followed by a clash between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid on August 9. This encounter marks a reunion for the two clubs, who last met in the Coupang Play Series three years prior.

Mancity, fresh off a domestic cup double this season, is recognized as one of Europe's strongest clubs, having secured 20 trophies in the last decade. Atletico Madrid, a Spanish powerhouse with 11 league titles and 10 Copa del Rey wins, is making its second appearance in Korea since 2023.

Fans are also speculating whether star striker Erling Haaland, currently with Norway for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, will join Manchester City for the series. The details regarding ticket sales and further information will be released by Coupang Play at a later date.
