Manchester City pay €75 million for Iliman Ndiaye to strengthen attack

Manchester City moved late in the transfer negotiations and took Iliman Ndiaye away from a deal that had brought the Everton winger close to Tottenham Hotspur. The English club paid £65 million, about €75 million, for the Senegal international, who had stood out for Everton in the Premier League.

Ndiaye arrives to reinforce an attacking area weakened by the departures of Omar Marmoush, Sávio and Jack Grealish during the transfer window. City had initially targeted Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, but Liverpool rejected a €93 million proposal. The setback prompted the club’s sporting department to turn to Ndiaye.

The 26-year-old leaves Everton after 77 appearances, 17 goals and four assists. He had expressed a desire to find a new destination and had previously rejected offers from Saudi Arabia as well as a contract extension from Everton, whose agreement with him ran until 2029.

The deal pushes Manchester City’s spending on incoming transfers to around €380 million this window. The club has also brought in nearly €340 million through player sales.
